Make a Real Difference – Join Fidelis Healthcare

Are you a compassionate, patient, and reliable support worker looking to make a genuine difference in people’s lives?

At Fidelis Healthcare, we are seeking dedicated Learning Disability Support Workers to support individuals across community, supported living, and home care settings. This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver person-centred, outcome-focused care within a clinically-led and governance-driven organisation.

Description

About the Role

As a Learning Disability Support Worker, you will be supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism, each with their own unique personalities, routines, and ways of communicating.

Many of the individuals you support may be non-verbal or communicate differently, so your ability to understand and adapt is key.

You will be expected to work confidently with communication approaches such as:

· Makaton

· PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)

· Visual aids and structured routines

· Non-verbal communication techniques

· Some individuals may use behaviour as a form of communication, particularly when they feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unable to express their needs. This means you will need to respond with patience, consistency, and a calm approach, using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles.

· You may support individuals with autism who rely on routine and predictability, so maintaining structure, reducing triggers, and creating a safe environment is essential.

· This role is not just about care — it is about understanding the person behind the behaviour, building trust over time, and supporting individuals to feel safe, valued, and independent.

What We’re Looking For

· We are looking for individuals who are:

· Empathetic, patient, and emotionally aware

· Strong communicators and attentive listeners

· Confident in supporting behaviours that may challenge

· Experienced or willing to work with autism and learning disabilities

· Comfortable using Makaton, PECS, or alternative communication methods

· Able to build meaningful relationships with service users and families

· Committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care

Your Responsibilities

· Deliver day-to-day support tailored to individual needs

· Support with personal care and daily living activities

· Promote independence, dignity, and choice

· Support and manage behaviours that may challenge in a safe and structured way

· Use communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, and visual aids

· Maintain accurate records and report any concerns

· Work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams

· Follow care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures

Why Join Fidelis Healthcare

· Competitive hourly rates
