About the Role
As a Registered Clinical Trial Nurse, you will support clinical trials by managing complex clinical protocols, ensuring data quality, and promptly reporting adverse events. Working across varied healthcare settings, you will conduct clinical randomisation, perform a range of procedures including IV therapy, blood sampling, cannulation, and use of syringe drivers. This role requires strong communication skills to explain protocols to patients and effectively relay data to research coordinators.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out randomisation and other clinical trial procedures as specified by study protocols.
- Maintain the quality and integrity of data collection and recording, following research guidelines rigorously.
- Perform clinical procedures such as intravenous (IV) therapy, cannulation, blood collection, and syringe driver management.
- Accurately label, handle, and document samples, ensuring adherence to protocol standards.
- Promptly report any adverse events or protocol deviations to the research team.
- Communicate clinical protocols clearly to patients and families, ensuring full understanding and compliance.
- Collaborate with research coordinators, providing both qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (Adult or Paediatric).
- Clinical research or clinical trials experience (Paediatric or Adult focus).
- Proficiency in IV techniques, cannulation, blood sampling, and syringe driver use.
- Strong analytical skills for data evaluation and reporting within research settings.
- Attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining high standards in health, safety, and infection control.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage patients, families, and research staff.
